Meet the teamKuwait has its own payment network, a three-decimal currency and a tax position unlike its neighbours'. Each one shapes how the store is built.
Payments
KNET is Kuwait's national debit card network. Shopify Payments is not available to Kuwait-based stores, so KNET and cards are offered through a third-party provider with a Shopify app, such as MyFatoorah or Tap. The provider decides the payment methods, the checkout experience and settlement, which is why we compare the options with you before the build.
Currency
The Kuwaiti dinar is divided into 1,000 fils, so prices carry three decimal places. Every place a price is calculated or shown, from the theme and discount rules to apps, product feeds and the ERP, has to handle the third decimal, and price points need rounding rules that look deliberate. We test this on a copy of your store before launch.
Trade
Distributors need approved trade accounts, their own prices and fast reordering, without a second store to run. Shopify's B2B features cover company accounts, price lists and payment terms. We built a wholesale journey alongside retail for Little Magpie, a Canadian distributor, and design each trade journey around how your customers already order.
Tax
Kuwait does not levy VAT today, but Saudi Arabia and the UAE do. If you sell into those markets, agree with your accountant how tax applies to those orders, and we set up the store's tax and price display per market to match.
