Decisions a multi-market Gulf store has to make

Selling in more than one GCC country is rarely one store with four currencies. These are the decisions that shape the build, and where each country differs.

  • Structure

One store with Markets, or a store per country

Shopify Markets, available on every Shopify plan, lets one store sell to several countries with their own currency and prices. Separate stores make sense when catalogues, operations or legal entities genuinely differ. We settle this in discovery, because it is expensive to change later.

  • Payments

Payments work differently in each country

Shopify Payments is available to UAE-based stores on the Advanced and Plus plans. Stores based in Saudi Arabia, Kuwait or Qatar use third-party payment providers, and the provider decides which local methods the checkout offers. That makes the gateway an architecture decision, not a setting.

  • Tax

No two tax positions are the same

Saudi Arabia charges VAT at 15% and requires e-invoicing through ZATCA. The UAE charges VAT at 5% and is introducing e-invoicing for business-to-business transactions from January 2027. Kuwait and Qatar do not currently levy VAT. Where invoices are regulated, they usually come from your ERP or an e-invoicing provider, and the store has to hand over complete order and tax data.

  • Currencies

Four currencies, one with three decimal places

The Saudi riyal, UAE dirham and Qatari riyal use two decimal places; the Kuwaiti dinar uses three. Price display, rounding, discounts and ERP sync need testing in the theme and in every app that touches a price.

  • Cross-border

Cross-border selling has to be designed

Shopify Managed Markets, which acts as merchant of record for cross-border sales, is not available to merchants based in the GCC. Cross-border pricing, duties and returns are designed with your payment and logistics partners rather than switched on.

Work that shows how we build

Our case studies are from Canadian clients. We show them here for the problems they solved, which are the same problems a business selling across the Gulf has to solve.

Little Magpie storefront rebuild

A full rebuild of a Canadian stationery distributor’s store: a new identity, collections by category and brand, a complete wholesale journey, and three languages.

One store serving trade and retail customers in three languages, organised by category and by brand: the same structural problem as one store serving several Gulf markets.

A bilingual wholesale channel built inside a live Shopify retail store, opening a B2B sales route without disrupting the shopping experience.

A wholesale channel added to a live retail store without disrupting it: a way to start selling to trade customers without running a second store.

Working with a team in Canada

Our team works from Markham, Ontario. We hold calls in the daily overlap between Toronto mornings and Gulf afternoons, and keep work visible in writing between them.

  1. Discovery

We review your store, systems, data and goals, and agree in writing what the project must achieve before anything is designed.

  2. Architecture

Store structure, markets, integrations and data flows are mapped and signed off, so design and development build on decisions rather than assumptions.

  3. Design

The templates that carry your revenue are designed in Figma for desktop and mobile, and approved before development begins.

  4. Build

Theme, apps and integrations are developed on a staging copy of your store, which you review as the work progresses.

  5. Launch

Data migration, redirects and quality checks come before a monitored go-live, planned around your trading calendar.

  6. Evolve

After launch, the same team continues on an ongoing plan: improvements, new features and support.

Is Binevi the right fit?

We would rather tell you now than halfway through a project. This is where we are, and are not, the right partner.

A good fit if

  • You sell in one or more GCC countries and your store has outgrown its theme, its platform or its first agency.
  • Shopify has to connect to an ERP, a warehouse or a B2B process, and that integration is where the risk is.
  • You want one partner for design, development and the work that continues after launch.

Probably not the best fit if

  • You need an agency with people on site in the Gulf. Our team works from Canada.
  • You want a template store launched as cheaply as possible, with no custom work.

Questions buyers ask

Does Binevi have an office in the Gulf?

No. Binevi Corporation Inc. is based in Markham, Ontario, Canada, and works with Gulf businesses remotely. Calls are held in the daily overlap between Toronto mornings and Gulf afternoons, and work is shared in writing between them.

Can one Shopify store sell in several GCC countries?

Yes. Shopify Markets, available on every Shopify plan, lets one store sell to several countries with their own currencies and prices. Whether one store is right for you depends on your catalogues, operations and legal entities, which is what discovery settles.

Is Shopify Payments available in the GCC?

Only to stores based in the UAE, on the Advanced and Plus plans, for online sales. Stores based in Saudi Arabia, Kuwait or Qatar use third-party payment providers, which also decide which local payment methods the checkout supports.

How are your prices set for Gulf businesses?

Our starting prices are shown on this page in US dollars, converted from our Canadian-dollar pricing. Projects that span several markets or systems are scoped after a discovery review, and your written quote confirms the final amount.
